50 years worth of pinball machine and jukebox collection have gone under the hammer at a historic sale in Hobart. The huge collection has drawn attention from around the country.
The one that garnered the highest price costing $6,100, is the 57-year-old continental jukebox with Gold Coast Collector Matt Keys. “I got the last flight out of Brisbane last night. So come down here, have a look, and as it turns out, take home something, so I’m pretty happy,” Mr Keys said.
A Star Wars themed pinball machine garnered $3,300, destined for the living room of Hobart man Brady Henley.”I’ve been a collector for about 20 years, and I’ve been after it [the pinball machine] for a number of years, so I’m happy to grab it,” he said.
Erwin Boot, the collector was overseas during the sales. According to the collector’s son Andy, it was good to see people enjoying the collection, some of those machines were just kept for storage unloved and unappreciated for over 30 years. It was time for the items to find a new home.
